Published by Square Enix Collective, a division created for indie games and developers, PowerWash Simulator puts players in the role of a professional power washer. The game features a career mode, which can be enjoyed solo or with one other person using online co-op, that tasks players with taking care of dirty jobs around the town of Muckingham. Free play mode lets up to six friends have fun together as they try to tackle any task that the host player has already completed.

Now, the title that PC and Xbox gamers have been appreciating for a couple of months will be coming to Switch and PlayStation consoles, though Square Enix has not clarified precisely when. While it might seem unlikely subject matter for a video game, PowerWash Simulator has been received fairly positively since it launched in July. On Metacritic, its user score on PC sits at 7.5, while players on Xbox Series X/S have given it an average score of 7.9. On Xbox One, however, it only has four user ratings that result in a score of 6.0.
The appeal of PowerWash Simulator lies in the satisfaction that comes from systematically cleaning up graffiti, moss, mold, and all manner of filthy places. Players will of course clean dirty cars and sidewalks, but there is an interesting variety of things that need tidying up in PowerWash Simulator including a playground with a Stegosaurus slide, an abandoned subway station, and even a crime scene.
The game provides players with a range of tools and upgrades for the job, with washers, nozzles, cleaning fluids, and extensions available to help accomplish different tasks. And Muckingham’s new professional cleaners can customize their washers, clothing, and gloves in PowerWash Simulator with skins that can be purchased using in-game currency. The game also has a challenge mode that tests players’ ability to clean quickly in the Time Challenge or use as little water as possible in the Water Challenge.
A number of announcements were made on the first day of Tokyo Game Show, including the reveal of the new ninja hero Kiriko for Overwatch 2, new trailers for highly anticipated titles like Luminous Productions’ Forspoken, and confirmation that PS5 console exclusive Deathloop will be coming to Xbox Game Pass on September 20.
PowerWash Simulator is currently available on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X, with versions for Switch, PS4, and PS5 coming soon.
