The finals though didn’t prove to be as memorable an experience as he would’ve have to hoped to have as he finished in 7th position out of 8. Jitu Rai, another Indian who also competed in the final finished in 4th place.
The Bengaluru-born shooter won bronze at the 2013 ISSF World Cup in Changwon in the 10m air pistol event and had a productive 2014 as well, winning a silver and bronze each at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and Asian Games in Incheon, respectively.
In the last 2 editions of the Olympics, India have won a total of 3 medals in shooting, that includes a gold from Abhinav Bindra. It now remains to be seen if Nanjappa can join that club at the Rio Olympics next year.
