The first Predator film was released in 1987 and starred Arnold Schwarzenegger in a sci-fi action film based in the jungle. The latest Predator game copies the setting and allows players to mimic the final scene of the movie where the Predator has a menacing laugh as it self-destructs in a massive explosion. The prospect of mirroring the famous action film excited players, but the ability to one-up Schwarzenegger and diffuse the bomb will likely make many fans look forward to their own Predator experience.

To diffuse the bomb players must first shoot the Predator as much as possible before the enemy even begins to self-destruct, the best way to increase damage is by shooting the mask until it comes off and then aiming for the head. Once the Predator begins the self-destruct sequence, marines need to continue to pour all their ammo into the enemy until it is dead. The player then needs to approach the dead Predator whose self-destruct sequence will be ongoing. There will be a prompt to diffuse the bomb and the symbols on the armpiece of the Predator will be the focus as they indicate what to press on the D-pad (if on the PS4). Players must select the correct button, press R2 to confirm it, and do this for all four symbols. To add to this challenger if players get one wrong they will have to redo the previous entry. This will defuse the bomb in Predator: Hunting Grounds but there is still a little way to go.

Players will finally have to then protect the body of the Predator before a helicopter picks them up. This method of killing the enemy will lead to a generous amount of XP and the variety of ways to kill enemies in Predator: Hunting Grounds has been very positively received.

While its a lot of effort, this is a fun challenge that gives players a new experience, unique cut scenes, and XP. There is still room for improvement in this game, but aspects like this self-destruct sequence shows that there is still plenty to love in Predator: Hunting Grounds.

Predator: Hunting Grounds out now exclusively for the PS4.
