In a recent video posted to Facebook, Alton Police Department Chief Marcos Pulido detailed the incident that happened last week, which he called “absolutely terrible.”

According to Pulido, on June 9 at around 12:59 p.m. local time, officers with the Alton Police Department were called to a residence near the 3400 block of Bolivar Street in Alton, Illinois, in response to reports of a possible homicide.

When officers arrived on scene, they discovered 22-year-old Liese A. Dodd dead at the residence.

“Every murder is absolutely terrible. I will never take that away, but what happened to 22-year-old Liese Dodd,” Pulido said in the video, “it’s abominable. It is completely terrible what happened to her.”

According to Pulido, Dodd’s ex-boyfriend, 22-year-old Deundrea Holloway, is suspected of committing the murder of the woman and her unborn child. Pulido said that Dodd was due to give birth in July.

Pulido is seen holding up a picture of Dodd in the video, as he said, “She was savagely, savagely killed. She was decapitated. Decapitated by a freaking savage monster.”

According to KMOV news in St. Louis, Missouri, authorities said that after Holloway beheaded Dodd, he discarded her head in a nearby dumpster.

After police discovered Dodd’s body in the residence on June 9, they launched an investigation to discover who committed the crime. According to Pulido, the Alton Police Department was assisted by several different nearby law enforcement agencies, and the investigation led officials to the Litchfield area.

“That monster was taken into custody by the Gillespie Police Department on the day we were investigating this,” Pulido said.

In the video posted to Facebook, Pulido announced that following the arrest Holloway has been charged with:

two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of intentional homicide of an unborn child, dismembering a human body andconcealment of a homicidal death.

“These are details I wish I would never have to share, but as I mentioned before, these are public because of the formal charges that have been issued. It is absolutely terrible what that monster did to her and her unborn child,” Pulido said.

In the video, Pulido also said that he is currently in contact with the Madison County state attorney Tom Haine regarding the incident. Pulido read a statement from Haine following the murder which said,

“We offer our sympathy to the family of Liese Dodd for the profound loss they’re suffering. We believe the evidence will show that the defendant’s gruesome actions here killed both a young woman and a child she carried in her womb.”

According to KMOV news, Holloway is currently being held on a $2 million bond.

Gruesome crimes such as this have made headlines before.

In March, Mexican police found six severed heads on top of a car. A large sign next to the grisly scene warning others against kidnapping and selling drugs.

And just a couple of weeks before that, a man’s headless body was found floating near a beach.

An 18-year-old male and his mother were arrested in the Aurangabad district of Maharashtra in India in December after allegedly beheading a 19-year-old woman. Police believe she was killed because her mother and brother did not approve of the man she married.
