Since the coronavirus pandemic has cancelled practically all competitive sport worldwide, the eSports industry has seen a massive boost, with professional sportspeople participating in new competitions such as Formula One’s virtual Grand Prix.
It’s uncertain if and when English league football will return to action, so for now this is as close as you’re going to get to seeing real football action. The draw has kicked up a few fun looking first round clashes, with Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling taking on Crystal Palace’s Wilfried Zaha.
It should prove fun viewing and will be a good advert for professional and casual competitive FIFA play as we enter another week of global lockdown. The press for the tournament doesn’t say which console the players will be competing on, but we imagine whichever it is somewhat dictated which players could get on board.
